Health Service Executive, Western Area Training Centres
The purpose of these centres is to fulfil the Board's statutory obligation to
provide a comprehensive programme of rehabilitation and training for people with
disabilities. The centres provide Rehabilitative Training and Sheltered Work
programmes as well as other employment projects.
These programmes are person centred, flexible and certified.
They are designed to develop basic personal, social and work- related
skills to enable people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of
independence.
These programmes may provide access to nationally recognised certification e.g.
FETAC.
The main outcomes from the above programmes are Further Training, Open
Employment, Supported Employment, and Voluntary Work.
All centres providing Rehabilitative Training are accredited by the National
Accreditation Committee.
